The Virginia Graeme Baker Pool & Spa Act (VGB Act) was enacted by Congress and signed by President Bush on December 19, 2007, with the goal of preventing drownings in pools and spas. This addresses fencing, alarms, and the hazard of suction entrapment.

Q: How long should I run my pool?
A: Unfortunately, there is not a simple answer to this because every pool varies based on their turnover rate (the time it takes for the circulation system to move the number of gallons equal to the volume of water through the pool through the filtration system). The standard turnover rate is 6 hours for swimming pools. It is very important to have your equipment sized properly to your pool for safety, proper filtration, and functionality.
*Includes chemical costs, pricing based on a 20k or less gallon pool with balanced chemistry. Additional chemical cost for unbalanced pool chemistry with algae growth. Service includes all items listed below.
Test and add chemicals to balance water levels if needed: Free & Total Chlorine, Bromine, PH, Calcium Hardness, Total Alkalinity, Cyanuric Acid, Iron, Copper, Biguanide, Biguanide Shock
Empty skimmer baskets, finger screens, automatic cleaner nets, and pump baskets; brush pool walls, skim surface of pool, and vacuum
Verify equipment is working properly, check filter pressure and time clock operation, check for leaks, check operation of automatic pool cleaner, ensure proper circulation of pool and backwash DE or sand filter
Service that was performed will be recorded and added to the customer database, the customer will be contacted via email that the service was completed and informed of any anomaly witnessed during service
10% discount on any additional service or repair
*A typical pool will require 2 filter breakdown, clean, and recharges per year based on usage. DE filters will need the grids cleaned of DE that has sediment and filtered particles trapped that will drive high pressure readings on the filter, this creates back pressure on the pump which prevents proper water circulation, filtration, and undue stress on the pump which can lead to additional costly repairs.
*Diagnose problems pertaining to various equipment such as pumps, time clocks, motors, heaters, lights, etc. 1 hour labor is included in this service not parts. If the repair can be completed within the hour, then the cost is $99 plus parts and taxes. The cost is further reduced by 10% for weekly service customers.
In Austin and surrounding areas, most pools are not typically shut down to winterize. We rarely get a lengthy amount of time below freezing. You should always run your equipment to circulate the water constantly during a freeze warning. Most start up and shut down services will cost up to $250 for the chemical costs and labor to get your pool properly balanced and cleaned since the weather tends to force more organic debris in the pool, possibly staining, and creating chemistry imbalances.
This includes Apartment Complexes and other Public Pools & Spas. Since there are more factors with this type of service, please contact us for an on-site walk through and evaluation and a free estimate of the service will be provided.
